I was with Avro energy for about 18 months, until the end of March, when I was switched to another supplier automatically. There was a credit amount of £239.60 on my account when I switched. I requested a refund and was told that a final bill would be ready to view on 12th May, and they would send the credit amount back to my account, and to allow 10 days.
On the 15th May I checked and the credit amount was still there. £239.60.
I asked for a credit refund. No reply, then again a few weeks later. Nothing. I checked again on 25th June. Credit still there.
Asked them again.
A week later I checked again. This time the credit amount was £24.
They’ve refunded it today.
My final bill was in May.
Where on earth has that money gone?

What was shown as your credit on the on the final bill?
... and does the final meter reading on the bill match the opening meter reading at your new supplier..?

Not a good idea if you're using Look After My Bills, Autoswitch or similar.  You're unlikely to get the best deal because these sites are likely to choose suppliers that pay them commission.  Gues who funds that commission? Yes, it's YOU because their prices will be higher.
You can do better if you check your bills yourself and make comparisons every few months or shortly before a fixed deal expires.
Did you give an opening reading to your new supplier?  If not then an estimated reading may have been used.  Another reason to take control of your energy.
The Mysterious Third Party may also have adjusted your opening reading.
