MOTO services 2hours window exceeded - can anyone help please?

I drove to a MOTO at Ferrybridge services to meet my friend on his motorcycle (I had not seen him for 2 years) - we stayed on the benches in the sunshine outside for over 2hours and bought food/drink. We then left and I didn't think any more of it.
I have the usual letter arrived today showing my car entering at 13:11hrs and leaving at 15:42hrs. So I overstayed. I didn't see the notices and when I arrived - I was looking in the car park for my friend. When we left - I was busy giving him hand gestures of which road to take - so never saw any parking notices during the stay.... I'm sure they will be there.
Saturday 26th June was violation of parking.
5th July when they printed letter.
8th July when I received the letter.
It's my mistake and had I have known - I would have simply paid for the overstay beyond the grace period. We were genuine customers not commuters getting free car parking. It was a Saturday and I'm surprised they even care about parking outside the "commuters" target market.
I'm out of work and living with family now and it's been a horrid 2 years & only met with my friend as he had toured around the Lake District and was headed back down to London and I met him on the A1/M62 services as it was easy for him (I could have met him locally to me - stupid me).
I really can't afford to pay this fine (unless I simply have to) and tired of everyone always seemingly after money all the time.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Complain to MOTO (these e-mail address have proved useful in the past - Moto the CEO is ken.mcmeikan@moto-way.co.uk commercial manager paul.comer@moto-way.co.uk) and explain that you were reacting to notices on the Motorway stating that tiredness kills and had stopped for a rest. Motorists should not be penalised for trying to drive/ride safely!4

Can anyone help?
Surely you read other MOTO threads and realised these are being cancelled by MOTO when everyone complains? This has been done to death on this forum for about 2 months - LOADS of MOTO threads.
Do not say who was driving.
DO not miss your 28 days to appeal AS REGISTERED KEEPER, not saying who was driving, as per the appeal template in the NEWBIES thread. Read that and be ready to appeal if MOTO are slow to cancel it when you complain, first.
Either the complaint or the template appeal will win as long as you don't blab about what happened or who parked. CP Plus can't hold a registered keeper liable. Their choice, their bad.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you. I looked at newbies thread and found it daunting as I was doing other stuff at the same time.I could have a word with the site manager and explain it's a genuine parking scenario not an abuse of their site....as the place is 15mins from my home... I think face to face might be more informal (but don't want to cause myself an issue if I should just do it via email).Thank you for your replies1

Have you complained to your MP?You never know how far you can go until you go too far.1

As said complain to MOTO ..... they are very reasonable and do cancel
Worth saying you are following government guidlines .....4 -
Maybe it's time the MSA time limits were increased from 2 hours to go with the uptake in electric vehicles: what is an EV driver supposed to do if they pull into an MSA to rest and charge up their vehicle, it takes over 2 hours to do, and then they get some stupid donkey £100 speculative invoice from a PPC?

The Vehicle isnt parked, its being re fuelled, something that will become a greater issue as time goes on - that is if the PPC model is still valid by then

So never say never !! 😂😂
But yes , 2 hours is ridiculous !! As Mr Bowen QC probably pointed out to the judge3 -
Let’s add that to planned submissions for the MHCLG - totally agree - albeit IIRC the rules about MSAs fall to the DFT only. But I am sure some of us can find a way to add comments where the current PCN approach must end entirely.
After all, the DFT wanted to stop drivers being penalised at MSAs in their report in 2013 and they were talked out of it by the BPA.
Let that be a warning to us all, that and the farce of the POFA, that there is always a danger that BPA lobbying about ‘carmageddon’ can be taken too seriously by a credulous Government and we MUST ensure the MHCLG stand firmly on the side of communities and shoppers, residents, hospital patients (and tired drivers at MSAs, even if they just pass a recommendation on to the DFT that they need to rethink MSA rules and stop blindly listening to the BPA).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you to those who have given their advice. Also to the obvious future-proofing of recharding EVs.I contacted MOTO and they have advised to appeal to CP Plus directly. So I think I will just go with the standard template in newbies section. I'm assuming I just go in hard ball and no extraneous circumstances are needed.... ie no changes to template. I don't know why - it just seem rude... so British! haha I do understand it's a legal situation and no room for niceities!0
