Shark vacuum cleaner offer - out of stock already?

I saw the Shark vacuum cleaner offer in this week's e-mail, and placed an order yesterday morning. Heard nothing further (despite the website claiming to offer next day delivery), so I called Shark today. Apparently, so I was told over the phone, the vacuum cleaners are out of stock and won't be back in stock for a couple of weeks. Not the end of the world, but it'd have been nice if Shark was a bit more proactive about letting customers know about delays.

Anyone else take advantage of the same offer? Did yours get delivered, or are you in the same boat?

  • Hiya, Yes I’m in the same boat. I ordered mine Wednesday morning at 9.50am and other than an email confirming my order and then another confirming my payment has been processed I haven’t heard anything yet. I was going to ring them but assume I will just get told they are out of stock. I don understand how they can say there are 4000 available when the product is out of stock? I’m not desperate for the item and can wait a few weeks but agree it would be nice to have an update to advise me when I can expect it.
  • In case it helps, it turns out that there was "some confusion" at Shark's end. Per my original post above, I initially heard nothing from Shark then, upon calling the next day, was told that I could expect a two-week delay.

Shark subsequently found some stock and attempted delivery the day after that, i.e. delivery within 48 hours of placing the order. By that point I'd already cancelled the order (didn't really want to wait two weeks after all) and bought an alternative elsewhere. The courier took the Shark parcel back.

When I spoke to Shark about the unexpected delivery, the company representative advised me of the above-mentioned "some confusion" regarding what Shark's systems tell its agents and the corresponding incorrect information I'd been given (to expect a two-week delay, instead of a prompt delivery).

In a nutshell, two of Shark's employees told me to expect a two-week delay; another of Shark's employees told me that her two colleagues misread the available information.

So... you might get a vacuum cleaner sooner than expected. You might even get the one whose delivery I declined.

I just order from Shark, or should I say, I think I ordered from Shark. I got a confirmation page and number. But no email and nothing in my Shark online account.
    Nice to save.

I hope everyone got their vacuums. This reminds me of Argos' famous sales. And I fall for it every time, I'm drawn in by the really low, rock bottom prices but every single item in the sale is always 'sold out'. Even when I go to the page as soon as the sale starts!! You can actually boast that you have some brilliant bargains when your stock has all gone. I know it's a tactic to get people to visit their website and maybe buy something they don't even want but it's very annoying indeed. The bargains that never were. Because they have all been sold. Apparently.

It's a vacuum cleaner.  Why would you be that bothered about waiting 2 weeks for one? It's not like it's a kebab from your local slop shop, you can wait two weeks for a vacuum cleaner, you can't really wait two weeks for food.

I have to be honest, I am not too impressed by my Shark Vacuum cleaner so if you can't wait and order something else, it may not be a bad thing.

They were a similar price on Amazon anyway.  I googled for a price check as sometimes a 'snap it up quick' isn't all it's cracked up to be. Quite a lot of places were sold out at full price, so no surprise there's a delay as already none freely available.

The Vax looks promising, 2 batteries giving total 90 mins cleaning time. My friend has a Dyson & says it's rubbish, can barely complete stair carpet before it conks out!
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.
  • I'd say they all have their problems. Our vax has the motor bearings going just weeks out of warranty. They won't supply a new motor, only a complete head which costs nearly as much as a new machine and won't tell me if they supply parts to repair shops.
