Neighbour is raising their ceiling and blocking some of the getting through our window

Hi
I need some advice about a problem with our neighbour, today I looked outside the window and I saw our neighbour is working to raise their ceiling by around 1.5m, this will reduce the amount of light getting through our window. They haven't contacted me regarding these works and I'm not aware if they have planning premission either.
Does anyone here know what are my rights regarding this situation? How do I go about solving this issue? Lastly, I pay a management fee to a building management company, are they responsible for chasing up this issue or am I?
Many thanks in advance

How does the height of a neighbour's ceiling impact the light through your windows?6

I assume they meant roof (possibly of an extension), but needs clarifying.1

It's a bit diffcult to describe, our window directly faces their wall which was roughly 5m tall, it's sort of a closed space outside our window, it's like buildings on 3 sides and one side was 5m tall wall and open sky, there was plenty of light coming through before from the sky and above their wall, now that they're raising their roof it has significantly reduced the amount of light getting through, I hope that makes sense, if not let me know.

Any chance of a picture, will make more sense then. Also probably better asking to get this moved to the 'In My Home' section, as it's not really a consumer rights issue.2

Nothing really to do with consumer rights, might be more for the Home Buying board if we're talking about rights to light etc.0

Let me know if you can't see the picture.

I can't see that your ambient light level is much affected by that, but definitely worth checking that what they're doing is permitted development, or if planning consent is required, that they obtained it.3

The picture is taken from outside so it doesn’t look bad, but when inside it looks a lot less bright than it used to. Would the council know if they have permission for these works?Aylesbury_Duck said:I can't see that your ambient light level is much affected by that, but definitely worth checking that what they're doing is permitted development, or if planning consent is required, that they obtained it.0 -

Search on your local council website. Will list all planning applications received - Unless what they are doing falls under permitted development.
