Seeing where my cat has been..

Hi, I'm interested in seeing where my cat goes in my local area. I have done a bit of googling, but can only find GPS trackers that are fairly bulky, have the ability to inform me 'in real time' where my cat is, and most seem to have a subscription. I'm not really needing anything as fancy really. I don't need to know where he is this minute, but it would be interesting to have a device on is collar that I can then download/ somehow once he is back home, similar to a smart watch which tells you your route when you've been running maybe? (I'm guessing something like that might be less bulky, and more cost effective) Is there such a thing for cats?

The smallest cat GPS tracker I could find, is Tractive:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tractive-Tracker-unlimited-Activity-Waterproof/dp/B07XDBH9Y2/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=pet+tracker&qid=1625677187&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExWFBERlk1QjNRSDRTJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwODA0NDkwMk1UQlIxWVJON1hIOSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNjU1OTM0MUdRQ0tGVTRFMDFKUSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
It's cheap to buy, but you then have to pay a monthly subscription for the service to remain active. We paid 2 years up front and I think it worked out less than £2.50 per month, which we felt was worth it for peace mind having found our latest kitten (now cat!) was a massive wandered who liked getting into all sorts!!
It's been extremely reliable, we've had it about 18 months now. You can track in real time, view the history of activity, and also activate a light and beeper if you need to locate your pet. Actually 2 weeks ago our cat lost his collar for the first time, we were impressed that we went out into the fields around our house, and were actually able to find the collar by following the tracker app.1 -

I've used Pawtrack succesfully for some time. It's designed for cats and is real time. My cat has worn it without problems for months. I think it is quite a bit smaller again than Tractive and does real time locating, which has been immensely helpful in recent times given my cat is a wanderer!!0
