Booked a golf holiday last year which was can’t due to COVID, in Sept i made an additional payment to rebook for this year, the travel company ‘Golfholidaydirect’ have now sent me an invoice for an additional £2400 even though i paid to rebook and at the time they told me this was agreed with the venue. They are now saying the venue has increased the price and they have no choice but to pass it on, can they do this?

Ordinarily, you would expect that type of clause to cover factors such as inflationary adjustments, small changes in taxation even, but not substantial / punitively large changes.

The OP says a change of £2,400 which does seem prohibitive.  Of course, the OP has not said how much this is out of the total bill, nor how many people are in the trip, so it may be a small amount in proportion.  Or the OP's golf week may be at St Andrews in which case a price adjustment of £2.4k would be inconsequential, though I doubt that is likely.
