UK cruise travel insurance

I’m soon to go on a cruise around the U.K. from Newcastle port and I’m looking for travel insurance but finding it just as expensive as if I was going abroad with flights. Surely I don’t need to have cover for medical expenses, and declare medical history, as being a U.K. citizen in my own country, it is free of charge? I just want cover for if I need to cancel. Could anyone advise please?

Medical assistance on board ship isn't provided by the NHS and you don't get the chance to tell the Captain to go to the nearest port if you get ill.If you can receive treatment on board you will need to pay for it.
