I'm from North East. Yes I know them.. I used to work for Barratt so been in construction for years.
Its no good me saying I know them though, you don't know me from Adam 😂. Do the usual, check them out online, check their NHBC score but know not everyone fills it in. Pride in the Job doesn't mean everything as they might not enter but find out the site manager - which sites and company has he completed, check their score out, who is the assistant etc.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....1 -
We're in Cumbria and we live in a Story home. We love it! Never thought I'd fall in love with a modern house....
For what it is worth, the man who started the company is a Cumbrian and they do plough a fair bit of money into the local community. Their houses (in our experience at least) are well built (and distinctive) and you really don't feel as if you're living in a box (all the houses on Story developments are slightly different).I hope your parents will be as happy as we are OP.1 -
My friend lives in a Story home in Cumbria and seems to be delighted with it. We have visited them several times and I really like their home. It seems well built, it's really warm and after three years, they don't have any problems. I am not very keen on new build 'estates' as they tend to look samey and parking can be a nightmare (we have 4 cars), but would definitely consider a Story home after my friend's experience.2

One of the things I like about Story houses is that the estates tend to be small- they don't build on those mega-estates. Our development is in a village on the site of a former hotel for example, with views of the Ullswater fells in one direction and Pennines in the other (and we back onto fields). They also use local stone/materials in the construction so the houses blend in with local houses fairly quickly. The standard of construction is excellent and there's plenty of space between houses (as well as plenty of parking). I know I sound like an advert but I really love our Story house....
