EMR (East Midlands Railways) - 'Build Back Better Competition' withdrawn

After taking a wealth of customers' marketing ideas and input earlier this year, EMR (East Midlands Railways) have ever so quietly withdrawn their  ‘Build Back Better Competition’ that promised a winning entry £5,000.  Nothing was sent to entrants to explain why it has been withdawn, and those who query it on social media and elsewhere are simply told that it was in their (now unavailable) terms and conditions that they could withdraw it at any time.

Just because something can be done, does not mean that it should be done, and in this case, it's dreadful that such a large company would have customers help them freely with ideas, only to withdraw the incentive after they've taken in all entries. I'd add that it's especially bad behaviour when we are in the midst of a pandemic, to dangle a £5,000 'carrot', only to take it away again.

I guess if a competition states that they can withdraw the prize in their terms and conditions, then they can. So where does that leave the gullible public that trust these huge companies to do the right thing and doesn't this leave the door open to the free exploitation of people's ideas?

How many is "a wealth of customers"?
Did they actually get any entrants, if so, were their ideas any use?

Could be something to do with the fact that the franchise has been terminated and EMR just get a management fee for now under Emergency Covid powers .
Certainly complain and ask them for the total of this wealth of customers .
