Enterprise Damage Charge

Hi all,

Looking for some advise. We rented a car for a day this weekend from Enterprise car rentals and we have been unfairly issued a £350 charge for a damaged window control which was already there when we received the car.
We didn’t take pictures (I know we should have in hindsight) but it looked like it had been there a while.

Is there anywhere we stand in fighting the charge or don’t we have a leg to stand on as it’s our word against there’s?

thanks

You signed the pre-existing damage report when you collected the car, and the alleged damage was not highlighted?

When did you first notice this damage, and did you notify it to Enterprise before returning the car?
  • The damage wasn’t highlighted when we received the car.
unfortunately we only noticed whilst driving to our destination and didn’t notify them and then they collected the car a few hours later. The control button looked like it had been in that condition for a while.

Sadly you will need to chalk this up to experience. Happened to me as well with a smashed tail light that was already there. I took pictures before I drove off but didn't send them and ended up being liable.

Now I check any rental over really careful with the staff present before I take delivery.

    It says damaged, not non-functioning.
