Android multi tasking screens

Advice please. This question related to what I believe are called the multitasking screens behind the main screen on Android devices. I'm not referring to the home screen or the screen that holds ALL your apps whether open or unused. This is the screen of currently running or at least recently used apps and are in the state of last being used.
In my household I have at least 3 android devices and these screens are presented by default, in at least 3 different ways.
1.. like a pack of cards with just the tops showing.
2.. mini views of the entire screen shown on 1 page, therefore 6 at a time.
3.. the latest version on a phone just bought shows the entire screen of each one at full size and you have to scroll through each one to see what's there.
I much prefer option 2.
But where do I get the chance to change these formats. Each one I have is as purchased and I've just left it like that. Ideas please ??

It depends on what Android flavour these devices run.
The Android system on a Google phone will have different settings/options than the Android on a Samsung.2 -
It's a Motorola on Android 11. I appreciate they may all be different, but I'm not sure that a setting even exists to do this ? I'm getting the impression they are predetermined.0

Android 11 but which launcher?I have a Samsung Galaxy which uses One UI, its gone from version 2 to 3.1 which adds features and
changes the layout slightly. But i can use alternative launchers if I dont like the layout.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
The multitasking screen you see depends on the launcher being used. Samsungs launcher is different to Motorola’s which is different to Sony’s, and they will all change and redesign their own launchers too over time. You can install a totally different launcher and use that instead if you wish (such as Nova Launcher). How the multitasking screen looks and works, and any settings it may or may not have, are entirely at the mercy of the launcher. It sounds like from what you are saying the Motorola launcher has the multitasking view you like. Something like Nova launcher may give you the option to make the multitasking screen look and work the same way as the Motorola one but remember installing a launcher replaces the ENTIRE interface of the device, not just certain parts of it. So you might find you dislike some parts of how Nova launcher works vs the Motorola launcher, but you’d need to weigh up whether you are happy with that trade to get the multitasking screen you like, etc etc.0
