Hi. Has anyone had rouble getting though to DVLA?
I sent a paper application for reduced car tax due to disability and it’s been 7 weeks and my car still isn’t taxed so I have no car to drive they have all my paperwork and I get bounced from phone to web chat then told to call back later?

Recent reports are that DVLA has 800,000 unopened letters, and they are stacking up an additional 40,000 every day. Covid and industrial action have caused these huge backlogs.
If you are able to resubmit your application online then I would strongly suggest that you do so.

As Macman says there is currently a huge backlog for anything physical, digital seems fine, with some people entitled to discounts giving up and paying the full rate so things actually happen. As a lot of the staff are now on strike do not expect any improvement soon though.

Yes, well not me but my dad.

He turned 70 at the beginning of May so had to renew his license, sent it off end of April, got sent a paper medical form thing to fill out and send back as he also has disabilities and he's still waiting now, in July...

Just as an aside, anyone turning 70 therefore needing to renew but not having any complications, I advise to have a look at the online form and see if they can use that - I did, and it took from the Monday (applied online)  to Friday to receive my new licence through the post.
