This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks. After the awful rain for most of yesterday today is bright and sunny, so far.The furtherest I went all day was to the tip as I had four bags to go. Somehow I managed to choose the exact half hour of the heaviest rain. 🤣 For most of the day I decluttered in a gentle and meandering manner with a wee snooze in the middle.I spoke to my estate agent and the news is encouraging. Out of the six viewers on Saturday three people have submitted official notes of interest. Today there are three more viewings and one on Wednesday. I expect that the flurry of viewings will now die down and the flat will either sell or linger. My plans for today are fluid 😎 there are a few rogue plant pots in the garden which need cleared up. I'm itching to do some planting but need to wait for the gardener to finish off the big clear out and do some proper planning rather than my previous ad hoc 'oh, I like that one' system. 🌸DP1 - great news for you and your DD about Germany allowing visitors from the UK who are double-jagged. I really hope that you can see her soon. For now I'll do a bit of browsing before doing anything else.Hugs to our missing and poorlies. Happy Tuesday to all.12

Good morning, thanks for starting Gers. It's raining heavily here, yet yesterday afternoon suddenly turned hot and sunny after a gloomy morning.Glad to read that you've had positive news about your Mum's flat, I hope it sells quickly.DP1, good news for you as well, hoping you can get to see your DD soon. Your little granddaughter is so funny, she'll keep your spirits up!I'll do a bit of shopping today, and tidying. I don't know if the quiz is on tonight, the football has taken precedence in the place we go to, as it has everywhere. I'll ring one of our quizmates and see.TA, hope you'll enjoy your time away, it'll be a nice change - though I was a bit dismayed to read in your post yesterday that your DD was going to "run you over" !! Sorry about my sense of humour.Hope everyone has a good day today, or as good as they can anyway.Take care folks11

Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast and raining, laying water so it's been raining from sometime during the night.
DH chilling with a cuppa, DS1 gone to work and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying ,my porridge whilst on here.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had gammon and salad. Not sure what we'll be eating today as we've planned to take my family oldies out today but the weather is awful - so not sure what we'll be doing.
Yesterday we got done what we wanted.
Keep safe and well x

Hi everyone,
dp1, I thought of you with the Germany announcement as well. As to the rest of the news, I don't think we'll be unmasking any time soon and Steve will probably stop going into shops altogether again. Although he's been double jabbed with his immune system he's likely to end up in hospital if he catches covid. My worry is that if lots of people carry on getting it we'll get more variants and one will turn out to be vaccine resistant. Sorry for the doom and gloom but I really don't see why we can't carry on wearing masks.
It's raining quite hard here but we don't seem to have the strong wind that was forecast yet. I hope it stops before I have to go and do Laura's shopping. Other than that it's a general housework day.11 -
Morning All
Dry and fairly bright this morning thank goodness, the rain the last few days has been quite heavy and I haven't been able to get any washing out, the machine will be working overtime today!
I spent all day yesterday doing absolutely nothing, must try harder today.
Good news for you dp1, hope you can see your DD very soon. Quite envious of your trip to London!
Hope you're having a good rest in the van TA and Sparkle has settled.
Here's hoping your DM's flat sells quickly Gers.
I'm going to meet DD at the swimming pool this morning, she can have a swim and I'll take the little one in the baby pool for a splash about. Not sure how she will be without her cousins there but it's worth a try, she's not sure of the water yet, lockdown meant she couldn't go for so long.
Allotment to visit, it's courgette season so I had better go and check on them before they turn into marrows!
Thinking of the poorlies, still missing Marie and tru.
Have a good day, take care. XX9 -
Morning! It was sunny yesterday until about six when it decided to chuck it down and it did that all night until about just now and now it's sunny again. So I've had a wander in the garden where everything this year and I mean everything has fallen prey to slugs and snails, even the things they usually leave alone. I just watched fatty hauling himself up the post to get to the top of the fence too which was quite entertaining. Someone else or several someone else's must be feeding him again because he's enormous again. We did manage to slim him down a bit. I think I'm going to have a day of rest today and play computer games. There's nothing urgent to do beside make something up to eat tonight involving chicken, potatoes [next door gave us another bag of them] and something spicy, another enchilada sauce maybe. I do have some blinds I'm going to cut up into plant labels so I could start doing that and playing with the wood burning tool. But I probably won't...Gers,if it's anything like here, it'll be gone in seconds...Good luck with it. Snoozer, I expect I will join him, the absence of colds and general flu over the last however long it's been is a pretty good indicator of the efficacy of masks and a general upsweep in hygiene...long may it last. And when I was walking back yesterday after dropping the car off, I started collecting a good number of poppy seed heads, and when I got nearer home, started scattering them, culminating in walking round the front garden muttering impecations while I scattered, like, grow you bathplugs....
Weenancy, he could take it to someone who could crack it, there are people who can run password programmes to unlock it. Or get to the root files to copy them. Ruby, how was your lunch on the lake? Csarina, when I got my car fater having the van it was like being in the cockpit of an aeroplane, so many knobs and dials and buttons, same for you? Hope his ankle is better. Dp1, start packing
I will away now to computer-game-land, so I bid you all a great day or a tolerable one, hope the sun is shining on you wherever you are....

Morning all, I think it rained most of the night. When I took Bigdog out earlier I could hear the stream which turns into a river after rain, there is a waterfall and it was like a noisy torrent. Not heard it like that for ages. Am certainly glad they cut the paths through the long grass on the park, I'd have been soaked past my knees todayI got half of DH clothes for the CS washed and dried yesterday, another lot should do it,& I've put some work T shirts in the bin which gets emptied today, no use recycling those- full of silicone, cement and other building work stainsWe had the chicken kievs last night so tonight is salmon, probably with a piri piri type marinade.Belated Happy Anniversary Mehefin!Csarina did you see the post on the end of yesterdays thread about throwing away your diaries? A lady came out of lurkdom to say how much technology has changed etc.. & still sometimes a case for keeping paperCarrying on the poppy theme from yesterday the only poppies we have round here are the little orange and sometimes yellow ones.Loads have self seeded, but last year I wanted some yellow ones for the steep bank at the back and got some seed heads from the side of a road, planted them and nothing came up! Might have to look for a red one, I love them.Take care all , hope Nelski and others missing are ok x

Morning everyone
Yes DD texted early this morning to tell me I'll hopefully be able to go to see her at the end of August. I know I'll not feel relaxed about being on the plane or even at the airport, but I'll have my mask on and to be honest I'm never relaxed about it anyways. She's so excited for me to see her apartment and her new life.
I feel I should take the opportunity while I can, in case there are more restrictions in the winter.
Snoozer - I agree that still wearing masks in shops would be a good thing - I know I still will if I'm anywhere busy.
Gers - good news that you have people interested in your mum's flat - hopefully it will sell quickly. It must be lovely for you being back in the countryside.
It rained yesterday morning but dried up after lunchtime so I managed to get the grass cut at the front of my house after work. The back garden will have to wait until the weekend. It's pouring this morning - I don't start work till lunchtime so I'm hoping it eases off a bit, or I'll get soaked on my bike!
I'm going to do some cleaning this morning - house is looking decidedly dusty.
Hope everyone has a good day

Morning, hugs if you need one. Gers, good news re the flat, here's hoping.
Taff...... yes my car has a computer built in, I have not got to grips properly with it yet. The book of instructions is 240 pages and on the internet!! RR yes I did see the post, sorry but the diaries are going. We just do not have room in the bungalow. I have already put more than 12 books from the bookcase on the internet and there will be more to follow, we have a cupboard full of stuff we have been told we need to keep, but I am pruning them after 4 years rather than 6 or 7. DB is also going to loose a load of shirts which no longer fit him. I hate to see men with a shirt that is too small and their bellies straining the buttons....yuk...
Once I have finished the quilt for little miss the sewing room is getting a big clear out. We are not allowed to keep stuff in the attic, so the boxes for my machines etc have been broken down and are stored under the day bed in there, I need to get them out and tidy them up then shove them back.
Yesterday it was fine apart from a couple of light showers, it rained heavily during the night, so DB told me, He has an appointment for a blood test this morning. I need to go to the chemist and get more savlon and some surgical wipes. His leg is looking better this morning but there is still a red ring round it. He has a Drs appointment next Monday, will see what she says.
Bed linen dried, I have coloureds in hope I get them hung out before we shoot off to the Drs.
I got 2 chicken breasts out of the freezer last night, I am going to make chicken cassolet, beans are soaking, will have some for supper tonight with pasta, the rest will go in the freezer for another day. I am working my way through the meat delivery I got a couple of weeks ago..
I have started getting milk in glass bottles delivered to the door, it is more expensive than from Aldi, but delivered twice a week there is less chance of it going sour. There was a free bottle or orange juice with it this morning, so we had some with our brekkie.
Right need to bet my big girls knickers on and get on....... have a good day.7
