When is a price match promise not a promise?
Camping world show a link to their price match promise so I thought I'd use it as you can purchase a three year warranty with them. Item was £699 with them and £599 with competitor. Filled out the online form and  very quickly got a refusal. For the life of me I couldn't see why.... UK site, Same product , In Stock and Free Delivery. So called the store line for clarification and  was told yes everything was the same but they weren't willing to drop their price. I was referred back to the T & C's.

By Requesting Price Match you confirm that you have read the  Terms and Conditions.... Silly Me!!!!1. Identical items only
2. Item must be being sold by a genuine business seller that can dispatch to your location
3. Item must be listed on seller's website and we must be able to view selling price - you must provide an exact URL to the product being sold (not just the website)
4. Item must be new, unused, in stock and available for sale
5. Applies to total checkout price including cost of shipping
6. You must request a price match voucher code using the form available on each product listing page
7. Voucher codes are valid for 1 day only
8. Policy is discretionary and subject to change without notice
9. Not valid for use with any additional sale, discount or promotion
10. Use of a Price Match Voucher Code will invalidate any affiliate promotion
11. Camping World reserves the right to decline any Price Match request
12. We will not price match eBay or Amazon products.
13. Please note to get our Black Friday Price Promise the competitor price has to be cheaper than our Black Friday offering.See 8 and 11.It seems that it really isn't any sort of promise just a how management feel on the day type offer.
I may not have thanked you but I meant to, honest!

Why not just buy from the competitor?

I probably will but Camping World offer an extra years guarantee ( paid for) which would have been useful for the item I was interested in.

So are they arguing that it's not an identical product, as the warranty period is different ? I belevie this is what John Lewis do with their price match....

No. The item was identical and offered a free two year manufacturers warranty as do Camping World. The only difference is that Camping World offer an optional extended warranty for the third year which is an extra approx £70.

I actually purchased from the Competitor in the end but thought that I might be able to save someone else the hassle of dealing with Camping World

From the sound of the OP they have rejected the price match under condition 11 of the terms and conditions because they don't want to do it.
