Hi All,

We have a our honeymoon booked for late October with British airways. We booked earlier this year, fully knowing that it might have to be cancelled etc.

We have decided that rather than risk it and potentially end up not being able to go , we are going to cancel and book in the UK.

So far we have paid a £400 deposit and around £200 for seat bookings.

I understand that most likely we will get the £400 deposit back in vouchers, which is fine (although I will try for a refund). Does anyone have any experience of getting seat booking money back? I can't really find much about this online?

I'm really struggling to get hold of anyone at BA, so any help is very much appreciated.

Tom

Here is the BA policy on seat refunds -

Given Boris is apparently this afternoon to announce that from 19th July that near-to-normality returns, are you not better off waiting on changing your October travel plans?   You have not mentioned where you are flying to but I would by October expect more travel options to be open.

When is the balance due? I would hold off doing anything for now
If BA cancel then you can get a cash refund for deposit and seat fees
If you decide to cancel (before they do) you get a voucher for deposit and nothing for seat fees

Thanks. Didn't want to get into all the details but my partner can't work from home, and quarantine. If rules change when out there then fine, she will get paid. However if she goes knowing she has to self isolate, then she won't.

We are perfectly happy with vouchers etc. it's a choice to do this so that we have something to do rather than leaving it up in the air.

We were going to Antigua by the way :)

Take yourself out of the quarantine system by leaving the country again. Border force will ask for evidence of your outgoing flight from the UK and remove your quarantine obligation.

There are many flights that are very cheap out of the UK at present. Just make sure you don't miss your booked onwards flight  ;)

    This is not good advice.

It is a criminal offence to provide false or deliberately misleading information when filling out your passenger locator form. You could be fined, imprisoned or both if you do not provide accurate information.

If you “miss” your ongoing  flight from UK you will have to comply with all the quarantine regulations that apply to the countries you have been in for the previous 10 days .

Agreed, terrible advice from the previous poster.

I've managed to get a voucher for my deposit and a full cash refund for the seat bookings, which i'm happy with.

I was just going to say that we are due to go to Antigua in November - at the moment I believe it will be fine - things could change ...
