EON won't move me from a prepay meter to a credit meter as their credit scoring system isn't set up

I've just moved into a new rental property and the previous tenant had a EON prepayment meter. My credit rating is sufficient for a credit meter and I've never had a prepayment meter in any of the previous places I've lived in. I spent half an hour on hold to get though their meter change department and got told that all changes are on hold because they don't have the credit system set up yet but they have "registered" my interest.
My question is whether I could change to another prepay suppler and then change to credit meter and who is the best suppler for changing meters. I really hate the expense and the hassle of prepayment.

Yes you can change to another supplier, that's what I'm currently looking at doing, been told you need to be with company for two months after change before they will swap meter. In Progress!!!2

I changed to EDF who changed mine. They changed the electric one immediately because it was high up and deemed to be unsafe for me to get to to feed. The gas one took a few weeks. That was a few years ago but you might want to give them a call to discuss.0

Unless there is a problem with the account, some missing information or the account not fully set up in your name, then there shouldn't be a problem.
I'm not sure why you have been told the credit system hasn't been set up yet, as we've been credit checking customers for a long time.
If you contact us, ask to speak to the pre-payment team, they are the ones that can do a credit check and arrange the appointment for you.
Thank you
