Travelling from Manchester North Premier Inn (Near Manchester airport) to join M56 on J6. Travelling west to join West bound M6 towards Chester.
It was raining and I did not see any signs for speed limit or camera.
As I was negotiating to join M56 increased speed to about 60 ...but thought I saw a flash on my back screen window.
I was traveling Not more than 61 MPH .

Does any one in here familiar with the lay out of this part of the road to tell me if there is a static speed camera on this stretch of the road joining M56?

Thanks in advance

From Streetview, the speed limit is 40 before the roundabout, 50 afterwards.
There is no need for camera warning signs.

I’m assuming that you were on the west-bound M56 jct6 sliproad and was merging into the 3-lane M56 motorway itself. I live in N.Cheshire and although it’s been a little while since I’ve used that particular sliproad a speed of 61mph shouldn’t really be of any concern.

However, that stretch of the M56 is more often than not in a state of repair/upgrade and speed cameras/restrictions are utilized. Any speed restriction would (or should!) be clearly signed as you entered the M56 sliproad, and onward. Rest easy, imo.

Exactly the road as you described, I was travelling and you're spot on with regard to where I was traveling.
I was about 60 as I was picking up to join the M56.
M56 that stretch on both directions are I guess reduced to 50
So I might be in trouble!
I did not see a static speed camera and I am questioning about the flash!

OK, on a second viewing of GSV there's a motorway sign as you come off the roundabout, which means NSL (70 mph) applies.

That section of the M56 westward from jct 6 to jct 8 is being upgraded to ‘Smart’ m/way status at the moment. I’m not sure how far they are on with it but there are various 50mph speed restrictions/contraflows/cameras associated with the roadworks.

If you have missed  50mph speed restriction signs on the sliproad due to very heavy rain then I guess your speed of 60’ish  as you joined the 3 lanes of motorway traffic may have been enough to trigger a speed camera flash,...impossible to say really.

However, perhaps it wasn’t a speed camera flash at all,...hopefully the flash was just lightning;...we’ve had a lot of it in the past few days!

    Thank you.
Wishful thinking. I feel it was a flash not lightening as I did not see surrounding light up but only on my back windscreen.  I could be wrong.
I also wondered if a vehicle travelling on M56 flashed to let me in...but my gut feeling was a flash from a camera.
If any one regularly travel on this part of the road they may have a better idea if a camera is there or not.
I was travelling last night around 8.30 pm.(04/07/2021)
GSV pictures displayed seem to be from Sept 2020...
