How do I get an error default payment removed from my credit history?

I have been in a nightmare scenario with O2 since March now which all started with one of their client retention members calling me to retain my business. Basically to cut a very long story short, O2 did not cancel an interim account which was set up while my number was being ported back from EE, this in turn created a debt that I was unaware of until I received a default notice from a debt recovery company! O2 have since told me that the interim account has been deleted and the money owing on the account removed but this has not removed the default payments from my credit history. I did a search using Expedian and this is how I found out. I'm absolutely furious as I did not create this and I have literally spend hours and hours on the phone to O2 trying to get them to sort this out, but I get moved from one agent to another, each one always promising to resolve the issue and get back to me! I'm not at fault here, so how do I get the payment defaults removed? Help please.

Hi,
Complaints are best made in writing, not over the phone, as you have discovered.
Send an official written complaint to 02, detailing their error, and telling them to rectify the matter as soon as possible.
Mobile telecoms providers have an abysmal record on complaints handling, so be persistent.
They have (officially) 8 weeks to investigate your complaint and issue you with a final response.
If you remain unhappy with there decision, you then escalate the matter to the ICO.
Please bear in mind, non of this will be quick, its takes time to investigate complaints, and even longer for the ICO to investigate things, could end up being 6 months or longer, but hopefully you can find a resolution to this.
