Advice please

Hi, bit of a strange one but hopefully you can help make some sense to it, long story short. I applied for a credit card for emergency spending and got accepted, I went on the credit card site and my name is slightly mis spelt, I have checked my credit record and a hard search was made by the company with the mis spelt surname.
 I have contacted the company via live chat and I have to call them and send proof of my actual surname.
my question is will it just be a matter of changing my surname with them or will they close the account and tell me to reapply even though I have been accepted already..... all be it with a slightly mis spelt surname. 
Thanks for reading this as I can’t seem to find any answers anywhere.

  • They should be able to issue the new card for you internally, I'd hope they wouldn't need to do another credit check though weird they passed the check with the wrong spelling

    They should be able to issue a new card in the correct name. They might ask for proof of ID this time. 
    I’ve applied from my phone for a few credit card, and on two occasions I’ve misspelled my name. Instead of “s” I’ve accidentally put “a”. Both times application approved, no problem. Though, one search was performed with Experian and one with Equifax. 
    I’ve had no problem having the name corrected as it was an honest mistake considering that the two letters are near each other on the keyboard. 
    No aliases were created either. 
    Didn’t need to apply again 😊

    My recent HSBC account has the last letter missing from my name - one day when things are more 'normal' and it doesn't take an hour to get through - I'll ring them and ask them to update it - it shouldn't be too much of an issue. It does appear they accept minor variations in names if all the rest of the details stack up. I can't see them closing it and starting over - I'm sure they'll just check the ID and then updated it accordingly. They wouldn't have sent out a credit card to someone that totally didn't exist (or would they? :smiley:)

    I think there is a lot of "fuzzy matching" going on. I recently had some significant issues because one of the CRAs decided that I had been applying for credit using an alias. The alias was a person who had the same surname as me, the same first initial, and (perhaps crucially) the same number of characters in their forename.
