Help in applying for permanent position in the NHS

I have been a bank worker for the past seven months and have been made aware of a permanent position soon to be advertised on my team that I would like to apply for.
If I am currently on Bank am I classed as a permanent employee of the NHS Trust I work for? I have worked full-time in one role since my bank role commenced.
Is there a section on the application form where I can add my ESR mandatory training or is that not required?
I have a written reference from my previous employer before I became a bank member of staff. I have been told by a member of the HR team that this has been added to my personal file. Would this reference be made available for whoever views my application form or will I have to make them aware of it?
Hope you can help with the above.

If you complete the application form and there is space for training records (which I expect there is) then certainly include the mandatory training you have done. In the space for providing referees then you could certainly mention that a reference from that previous employer has been provided. When I was aware of recruitment in the NHS body where I worked, references were often requested prior to interview so this could help HR and possibly prevent your old employer being approached again. [Though I have to say that NHS HR departments do not have the best reputation in the world for competence.]2 -
There is no such thing as a "permanent" contract in the NHS (or any other employer). You either have a "substantive" contract or you do not - and of the top of my head I don't recall if bank employment is substantive or not. I can see arguments both ways.
In any case, it doesn't matter what status your bank contract has. If you want to apply for the job, apply for the job. And include all the information you think is relevant - including training and names of referees - that you think might increase your chances of being successful. You should not be penalised for giving more info than you need to.
Most of the jobs I ever applied for were paper form applications, and if you wanted to include something where there was no space on the form, you simply attached an appendix. On all the online forms I've used, the relevant boxes have always expanded to accommodate what I wanted to say. (Tip: if an online box doesn't expand it might be a hint that the recruiters don't consider that bit important... )1 -
Thank you both for the help. Much appreciated.1

I wouldnt mention mandatory training as if you say your an employee already which I think there is a click bit for that then they would expect you to do it.
I would. Pit in the additional. Information what you bring to the job and what you have learned during your time on the Bank and how it will help in this role.Mortgage free wannabe
Actual mortgage stating amount £75,150
Overpayment paused to pay off cc
Starting balance £66,565.45
Current balance £58,108
Cc around 8k.0 -
No you are not a permanent employee. Mandotory training is irrelevant as they want all staff to complete these anyway.
Reference- most likely you'll have to give it again.0 -
In terms of any training or quals, look at the person spec and see if it says if it is an essential or desirable criteria, if it does then include it.
Being a bank worker only really becomes relevant if it is being advertised as Internal Only or if they advertised roles internally first of all before advertising externally. If so then it is likely it'd be defined as employees who can apply for internal only roles.
if you have been at the same trust in the same role for several months it may be worth checking what contract you have been put on as you could have been given a fixed term contract, which could say that you are an employee.
