"Sorry, it's not currently insured fully and it would cost us a fortune in time, petrol, train tix etc"
so stick with that, you are under no obligation to deliver and once you have said no buyer should accept that and walk away.
I'll put it down to him being a bit of a simpleton.
Thanks guys!Needless to say I declined, told her the item was available if she wanted to collect but I wouldn’t hold it for her nor could I deliver, she was a bit whingey about it and it did actually sell a few days later to someone who turned up exactly on time to collect.
Funny she had a bad back and couldn't leave the house but she's out with friends.1 -

Also the OP states they listed via eBay classifieds which is different to a normal listing. There is no bidding and eBay explicitly state that the transaction is to be finalised outside of the platform - https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/listings/listing-tips/selling-classified-ads?id=41671 -

Having bought many cars at distance they are making it a complex issue.
Far simpler to move the human driver than car.
However plenty of companies will deliver. So just quote a per mile fee from one of them and tell the buyer its payment up front for the car & delivery

They may agree - don"t forget they have 14 days to return it so you may end up paying transport both ways ..!0

I'd never do it but I told him it would cost him £100s plus the asking price or he could spend £30 on a train ticket and just come get it. He replied saying if he could he would.
What an odd man.0
