Not so Smart Meter

I agreed to OVO installing a Smart meter in May but it has never been "commissioned" and has defaulted to a single tarriff when I am on Economy 7. I complained at the end of June but all they will say is that they have passed it on to the relevant dept but cannot give me a date for repair. They say I will not lose out financially over the tarriff but cannot give me a formula for how they will work it out...if they ever fix it. So much for "No More Estimated Bills". They gave me a date to fit it no bother! My guess is that they are rewarded for installing but not penalised for failing to do it correctly.

..I would love a smart meter and keep getting bombarded with e-mails from my supplier saying they are fitting them in our area, but when I ask I have always been told they don't currently do them for economy 7..?...not sure why this should be so difficult to achieve?.."It's everybody's fault but mine...."1

What was wrong with your old meter? Just what benefit do you expect for YOU by having a smart meter fitted?1

ultimately the intention is that all electricity will be charged at either peak or off-peak rates. That can only happen if a Smart meter is installed. Economy heating is off-peak anyway so there is no incentive to have a smart meter installed for itStubod said:..I would love a smart meter and keep getting bombarded with e-mails from my supplier saying they are fitting them in our area, but when I ask I have always been told they don't currently do them for economy 7..?...not sure why this should be so difficult to achieve?Gather ye rosebuds while ye may1 -
Just wondering, if you want a water meter but for some reason, flat living as an example, they cannot instal one, I believe you can get money off of your bill. Does this also work with a Smart meter? I didn’t really want one, then EDF kept bombarding me with calls and emails and I thought I might like to swap supplier, so thought I would have one installed but I did know I needed a particular one for my E7. I played the game let them do all the talking and arranging of a date and then casually mentioned I have E7 and could they confirm the meter they would instal was compatible. Put on hold, then of course they came back and told me they were not installing that type in my area at present, so I got myself taken off their “bombardment” list and it has been quiet ever since. Perhaps after the Covid they/I might check again. I have storage heating only, so need the E7. Some of the best swap deals insisted on a Smart meter being part of the deal. Bit like banks insisting on paperless billing and you having a mobile phone to confirm some transactions.Paddle No 21:wave:0
