Hello,
I have 23 empty, genuine Canon ink cartridges (mainly CLI-571XL but a couple of PGBK-570XL)
Previously I thought I was making a small donating to charity when giving them for recycling but have now seen they are not on the list for which charitable donations are made.
At worst I can send them to Canon but I would prefer to either recycle for charity or raise cash to donate.
I have looked at previous threads but the companies I found did not include these cartridges.
Does anyone know of any options I could try please?
Thank you,
Peter

Well if the charities won't accept them the only thing you can do is either send them to Canon or put them in some recycling box somewhere and forgo the charity. Printer cartridges are made of a complex blend of plastic, metal, foam, ink, and toner. As a result, these components cannot easily be separated.2

Thank you, just asking.
If there's no alternative Canon will get them as othersmay just landfill them if they're that difficult. Cheers0 -
sell them on Ebay and donate the proceedings. Many churches accept ink cartridges plus old birthday/christmas cards etc. which are sorted and sold to raise money for good local causes.0

To be fair it's more likely they are not worth charities taking, on older Canon ink tank cartridges like PG-5/CLi8, 520/521 and 525/526 the chips could be reset which made they easy and cheap to remanufacture, the later 550/551, 570/571 and 580/581 cartridges require a new chip so they are less viable for refilling, it's more cost effective to sell mass produced compatibles. By contrast, cartridges with built in printheads like Canon 540/541, HP302 etc can fetch £2-£3 each for a virgin cartridge.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0
