went into currys on friday bought goods for £454 checked my bank on saturday morning and found that they had taken 2 payments of £454 =£908 on 2 seperate autharisation numbers i went back to store and complained loudly , the manager was more concerned about keeping me quiet than sorting the problem , they had stolen my money and it was i who was threatened with the police i wasnt abusive as i had nothing to hide i was just loud the manager told me that although it wasnt common this had happened before he also stated that the error was down to the handleing company that they use apparently it makes more sense for you to pay a third party who then pays the store and the error would be spotted after 24hrs i pointed out that 24hrs had elapsed and his assurance was flawed he did howether make some phone calls and did get the money recredited to my account he did say that having spoke to someone on the phone that it would have normaly taken up to 5 days to get the money back forget the fact that i may of incured bank charges the fact that this company had entered my bank account and took my money cannot be overlooked what do you guys think?

i take it it was chip and pin when you paid, so surely for them to have taken 2 amounts would have meant that you would have had to enter the pin number twice for 2 transactions?:T This site is great! Thanks to Martin Lewis & everyone who participates and helps so many people! Without you all, where would we be ??:T

Great aren't they ? I ordered a microwave 4 weeks ago when it came it was faulty, still waiting for the replacement from them .Keep giving me different delivery dates every time i ring up ,so i asked them how they would like it if i went in store picked something up and told them i wasn't sure when i was going to pay for it ..maybe next week or the week after ! Customer service is rubbish.0

You seem to have a lot of problems from paying for things going by your other posts as well0

sarah1975suk no it was just the one pin number thats why i was so angry0

scoOTER explain what you mean0

You had problems with B&Q as well..... Although nobody even bothered to reply to it anyway. You just seem to go off on rants like your WII one as well..0

scoOter i agree I had a problem with b&Q regarding a service fee and maybe nobody replied because no-one knew the answer. I am sure that you would have replied had you know the answer. All my previous posts have been questions please take the time to reread them. therefore even you would be hard pressed to call them rants. the currys post was for the benefit of others so that people are aware of a situation that is apparently more common than we think, after further investigation it appears that the error was on the part of streamline, who can obtain an authorisation number to take a payment without your pin number. not sure about you but I believe that the more people that are aware of these problems then the less likely we are to get ripped off.0

Absolute rubbish. I work in customer service and this can happen. It could be a software fault on the machines provided by a third party company.0 -
I'd be upset too but it does happen-has happened to me at least twice this month-once on a large internet transaction and once in-store in Woolworths.
Both were sorted out quickly but for Currys I wouldn't have bothered going into the store as they usually can't autherise that kind of stuff but would have called customer service. I never see the point in been abusive-I get things done by been pleasent but firm and if the person I'm speaking to can't help I just escalate it until I get to someone who can. I get my money back possibly quicker-and I get to keep my dignity.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
