faulty cooker repaired after 8 months and developed same fault 7 months later- £120 repair

Hello!

I have a kenwood cooker, purchased April 2020, from Currys. 

After 8 months the heating element went (tripped the RCD in the fuse board) so a repairman was sent for a warranty repair in Dec 2020.

However last night as we were using the cooker and the electricity tripped and the heating element has gone again (after restoring power the oven light and fan came on but rather than warm up, the temperature very steadily dropped. 

However upon calling this morning Currys are saying that it is now out of the 1 year warranty and Kenwood should repair but kenwood say Currys are the retailer so it's them or pay a charge of £120 to repair it. 

According to google a heating element should last approximately 5 years. I've gone through 2 in 14-15 months. Is this proof enough that the cooker isn't fit for purpose? 

 A further question, if I'm correct about not being fit for purpose, who has to put it right? Currys knowhow tell me its kenwood to fix and kenwood say because it's been repaired its up to currys, they can do it for a £120 fee.

    Consumer Rights nothing to do with kenwood you pursue the retailer under CR .

    As above, but to be honest, it will probably be a whole lot less hassle to just buy a new element and fit it yourself, if it's a model where that's easy and you are a semi-competent DIYer.

    Otherwise, you need to get it inspected at your own cost, send the report to Currys and take it from there.
