Portable wifi/tether

A family member may need to make provision for internet/wifi to work from home after moving house as the internet people cant install for 2 weeks after his move.
I was looking at a mifi/portable wifi unit for him but I thought that as I have a spare iPhone, maybe the easy option is to get an unlimited data sim and he tether to his laptop.
Does any one see any flaws in that thinking?
Its only needed for a month tops so he doesnt want to spend a huge sum - but to work from home he will do so if required.
I think Smarty are a decent price at the moment for the sim.
Thanks

That sounds like a credible idea. Just make sure that you have a decent 4G (5G?) signal from the network at the WFH location before you lash out 20-30 quids on an unlimited PAYG.1

What I did was use BT and their unbreakable wifi. That comes with a Hybrid Connect box that provides unlimited EE 4G and continues to provide automatic failover to 4G if the main internet goes down. If BT or that automatic extra internet reliability isn't wanted then your solution should do the job.1

I use mobile phone tether all the time and it works very well - as long, of course, as you have a decent mobile signal.
Depending on what your friend is doing, you may net ever need unlimited data - I rarely use more than 30-40GB1
