British Gas want me to stay with an offer
I switched last week to EDF June 23v3 from British Gas as it was ending mid July, Now British gas have rung and offered me a virtual match but only fixed until 2022
Prices are
EDF
Fixed til 2023 no Exit fee
Electric Standing charge: 24.86p per day , unit price 18.82p kwh
Gas Standing Charge: 26.50p per day. unit price 3.302 per kwh
British gas fixed until Jul 2022 with £30 exit fee for each fuel
Electric Standing Charge: 28.61 per day but with 13% discount 24.507 per day, Unit price 20.88 kwh with discount 18.17khw
Gas Standing Charge : 28.796p per day, with discount 25.052 per day, Unit Price 3.891 kwh with discount 3.385 per kwh.
They are pretty close if worked out over the year. plus you get to speak to a human, where as EDF are only online chat and states if you want to speak to a human then this is NOT the right tariff for you
Is it worth keeping a 2 year fix with EDF or is it best to stay with British Gas even though it is a shorter term and has £30 each tarrif exit fee.
I am torn The girl from BG is ringing back on Monday

The gas prices seem competitve as I signed up a 3rd account to ZOG just last month and they are close to what gas board is giving you. The electricity prices seem a bit expensive and I think you could consider having a differnt supplier for gas and another one for electricity, the "duel fuel" thing doesn't seem to work out now. I stay in the SSEB/ScottishPower region so your area may have different prices to mines. EDF is fine as they took over my iSupply accounts last year, but I like Scottish Gas/British Gas as well as they send you rewards every month, like just recently I got 2 x £4 gift cards for Greggs the Baker.1

yes it seems a bit of a fiddle to change but no exit tariff seems appealing , well I have the weekend to think about it
Thanks

I would stay with the EDF one as the its a extra years security with no exit fee so if in the future prices drop you can just move.

If its only between those two i'd prob say edf as you have the ability to move elsewhere without charge if prices magically decrease, you also have the same tariff for 2 years.
However, the electricity charges you are paying are run of the mill and not particularly cheap, there are far cheaper out there. The gas prices are good though, particularly for a 2 year fix. Personally i'd go single fuel and take 1 yr fixes at the cheapest prices, you'd save quite a bit.1
