In England, Wales and NI, it's the Limitation Act that kicks in after 6 years. If they haven't served court papers on you by then, it's too late.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

6 years of no admission, not 6 years. And of course you never get to use the company again. Which if it is your local supplier of last resort is a very bad idea.
