Corsa Gears Failure

Anyone had issues with new Vauxhall Corsa gears. Mine have failed within 5 months/1200 miles - first and reverse always a bit iffy but reverse completely failed. Known issue with Peugeot who have had lots of incidents. Vauxhall who now use Peugeot parts (same 5 speed gearbox) are denying there's any issues within Corsas and telling me they are going to replace the entire gearbox with the same!

What do you want them to do? It will be a like for like change, I very much doubt there is an option.0

I'd expect them to modify known issues before expecting someone to take the car back knowing it will happen again!

The Corsa uses the MA gearbox that PSA have been using since the 1980s... I had one in a 205 with 190k miles on it, and it was sweet as a nut. There is no inherent issue with that gearbox design... They have built millions, if not tens of millions of them. I doubt the early failure rate is even 1%.
And, yes, "Vauxhall" use Peugeot bits - Opel have been owned by PSA (Peugeot's parent, now Stellantis following the Fiat-Chrysler merger) since 2016. The current Corsa is exactly the same thing underneath as a 208.0 -
You've could try rejecting the car, but it's an iffy rejection as you've had it 5 months and the law states the dealer/manufacturer must be given at least one attempt to fix the issue.
So them replacing the gearbox is their one attempt and it might actually be perfectly fine after that.

Are the new Corsa and Peugeot 208 the one and the same? PSA bought Vauxhall the other year.0

Thanks guys, yes same as the 208 however within PSA there's technical bulletins out about how bad the wear is on these, they are even advising double hitting the clutch which seems madness in a modern car. I'm very untechnical and hope that a replacement will be ok and mine was a one-off duff car!0
