If you have a material change in personal circumstances is there a route that gets data into the likes of National Hunter before making any application for credit? I know my bank occasionally asks for an update on my work status etc but no idea if that goes anywhere.

National Hunter is for fraud prevention, if a lender adds a marker on National Hunter it will likely be instant

In terms of changes to income, there are things like Experian CATO (Current Account Turn Over) where banks/building societies share information of debits and credits that can be used to validate income

Ok @SeanG79, I know Hunter is used for fraud detection but thought it held application data for checking consistency rather than just markers of found fraud like CIFAS

The lender applied to can then conduct whatever checks they feel necessary.  Data is collated from certified applications. Then there's no dispute.

Apologies, I stand corrected, so edited post.

National hunter says: Answer: We hold the information you provided on your application/s to banks, building societies, and other sectors of the financial services industry who are part of National Hunter. We may also hold information obtained from other sources, including our members, law enforcement, public sector and regulatory bodies.

    Know your customer. 😁

In most cases it will just be to update their systems so they hold the up to date details on you.
It's amazing the number of people who never update employment status. Address, phone numbers then kick off that they have not been contacted or received anything...
