I've just bought a flat and the electric it is a pre payment key meter and I'd like to change it debit to match the gas meter.

Does anyone know which energy companies still fit the old style non smart meters? I don't mind paying.

    None to my knowledge.
In theory they all can do it for a fee but generally have no stock and no plans to obtain stock.
Meanwhile do make sure you've opened a new account for both electric and gas with the current supplier and do obtain a new key for the electric, do not use a key from the previous owner or you may end up paying their debts...

I called utility warehouse and have set up accounts. They said they'd send a key but it's been a week now. the one i used to put money on the meter yesterday was a British gas one.

Can't emphasis this enough. You can't switch to Utility Warehouse until you have first established accounts with the incumbent supplier. (Unless of course UW is the incumbent)

For future reference for anyone looking to avoid smart meters. Bulb  will switch my pre payment meter to a non smart meter after 2 months with them for a charge of £120.

Have they confirmed that they actually have the meter in stock and a confirmed date for the install?
It isn't uncommon to hear that there is a charge for switching to a non-smart meter, it is rare to hear that it has actually been done...

No, I just spoke to a guy on the phone, and I haven't signed up yet, but as it's a variable tariff if they can't provide a non smart meter I will move to another company. I am checking some other companies before seeing what I do. Not everyone can have a smart meter installed so there must be some in stock for when peoples meters need changing or go faulty.
