  • The reason she wasn't told about the money was because the giver stated that she wasnt to get it until she was 24, unless it was for education, but the solicitor sorting the will just gave us the money and we had no clue,  we have decided to tell her about the money, explain what the giver wanted and involve her with the decision making.

    She has a Child Trust Fund or a Junior ISA if you have transferred it. Tell her about this at the same time, because a you should and b this where the money should end up, although you may change the CTF or ISA.

    Others will confirm but I think she may still be legally entitled to the money when she turns 18 and be able to do whatever she wants with it regardless of what the giver wanted.

    Perfectly reasonable not to have told her until now or until she turns 18. It's a reasonable amount of money that could have a significant impact on her life.
