Hi guys, I am currently in the final stages of completion of buying my RTB flat/maisonette, had an appointment with my solicitors today to sign paperwork and had a brief look at the plans and took a picture with my phone my solicitor said he will send me a copy when it gets all finalised.
now I own the side gate and back half ( of back garden ) downstairs neighbour has front half of back garden. Now sorry for the silly question as being a first time buyer this is all new to me... How do I understand where the half way mark for me to erect my fencing is? do i have to measure on the scaled drawing provided and work it out ? the scale is 1:1,250
Need to know exact as my neighbour downstairs is a funny character.

I have uploaded the pictures
thank you

Get a scale ruler, eg: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Triangular-Rulers-Architects-Engineers-Metric/dp/B07Z4CYK77/ref=sr_1_1_sspa
One with a scale of 1:125 will do, just add an extra zero on to the amount you're measuring.
Alternatively you could just measure the length of the backyard and divide by two, probably just as accurate.0 -
Bear in mind that 1mm on a 1:1250 map is 1.25m on the ground...0

In your position, I think I'd tell the Housing Association that I want the boundary physically marked out by them in the garden before exchange of contracts - to avoid potential neighbour disputes. Then you can inspect their marking to make sure you're happy with it.
(But if, for example, they mark it out with posts - do you think the 'funny' neighbour would pull-up the posts and move them before you move in???)

I have been living in the property for a number of years, the council surveyor told me where the half way point is. I just need to prove it to downstairs neighbour as like i said he seems to think it is not where i told him it is.eddddy said:

his never seen any plans his just going by what the council officer told him 15 years ago. I literally just found out side gate entrance to my back half is all mine , when the council surveyor came over to draw up lease plans he told me, I have been going by downstairs neighbour word that its shared. I just never put much thought into the back garden until i decided to purchase the property0 -
