Our purchasers Solictors has come back asking for more information.
Our purchasers Solictors has come back asking for more information.
We’ve lived here 12 years and things like windows, internal chimney removal & and upstairs loo were installed before we moved in and we have no idea when and no paperwork to support. What should our response be? Should be offering money off to reflect?
Also, they’ve asked for chancel indemnity cover which is laughable. We’re not paying for that! Or should we??
We’re getting bored of this now. It’s an Edwardian house and these are just the normal quirks. It’s a beautiful property but old houses do always need work.

Chancel repair liability is their responsibility. We’ve had to pay it on our last house and will have to on our new house.

No to chancel repair indemnity. We paid it for this house and our buyer will have to pay if they want it.0

It’s standard for solicitors to ask for paperwork like this - but if it was done prior to you living there then your response is that it was completed by a previous owner and you do not have the corresponding paperwork.Not sure why you need to offer money off for that. If the buyer wants to do their own inspections with a survey then that’s their prerogative.Chancel repair indemnity is such a con but seems most of us end up with having to pay for these useless pieces of paper. The buyer should really pay for it. But this was a sticking point for my buyer when I moved last year so for the £20 it cost I just paid for it to allow us to get on with the transaction!0
