Is anyone else having problems with iPlayer?

I have VirginMedia 200Mb cable. Over the last few days, iPlayer has become virtually unusable because of buffering. I have done all the usual reboots etc. and have no problem with other streaming and download sites, all of which operate at full speed but all my devices, both wired and wifi, buffer constantly when accessing iPlayer. That includes trying to access it via my (wired) Tivo box. I do sometimes use get_iplayer for downloads. Apart from generating more errors than usual, that is working normally; indeed, its speed has increased significantly of late.

Is anyone else seeing this? I'm wondering whether the problem is with iPlayer itself, given the exceptional level of usage during Wimbledon and the Euros, or is it perhaps VM capping bandwidth? Or is it me?

Try the old and boring fix for many things: unplug the mains power from the Virgin box and any extra routers or switches you have. While unplugged also unplug every network cable. Wait ten seconds or so then plug in all of the network cables then all of the mains power and turn on.

Network cables that aren't quite properly lined up can sometimes slow things down.

If this fixes it and it happens again you can do a more step by step check to try to find the exact problem location.

If you have a switch or router that has statistics for each port you might be able to see error rates on each to get a clue.
