When you pay by IBAN, do you get a reference number/code?

I'm waiting for a refund from an online company called grandado.com. They claim to have made the refund by IBAN, but will not give me any details. I've checked the IBAN bank accounts and no refund has been made.
TIA.

IBAN stands for International Bank Account Number, so is a reference not a payment method.
When you say you have checked the IBAN bank accounts, how did you do this?
Also, when did they tell you that they made the payment?
Refunds can often take three or four weeks. I was due a refund from Carphone Warehouse which did not arrive until four weeks after they had received the returned phone.0 -
IBAN is the international version of your local bank account. If someone in another country wants to pay you money, they can use your IBAN details to make the payment. The business I'm having issues with is grandado.com and are based in China. I keep asking for the refund and they keep saying they sent it but won't give me any details about the refund (which IBAN they used, gave them 2) or did they use mediapress ltd (online payment services) who did the initial payment. If they made the refund they will have reference of the payment. I think they are scamming me.0

How did you make the original payment? If card then you'll probably have more luck doing a chargeback through your bank. If by bank transfer then you're relying on the seller to be honest, which isn't a good idea IMO - sounds like they are already taking you for a ride.
If you didn't provide them with your bank details (including IBAN) then how are they going to know which account to send the money to? My money is on them not even having sent your payment0 -
