End of Tarrif

Can anyone please try and explain what Scottish Power are going on about.

I am three weeks away from my end of tariff, and SP have quoted me and extra £30.00 per month on a 12 month fixed rate.  I asked them for a figure on my annual usage and although the Electric was similar figures to my own, the Gas they quoted was double my figure.  I rang them for an explaination and they began the longest ramble ever, which lost me.  They said that the higher figure to mine (Gas) was because they were forcasting my usage.  I pointed them to the actual usage figures that they provided which was showing half of what they had said.  I then suggested that if their figure was correct, then I would be showing a deficit, where in actual fact I will be in credit come the end of the term.

They then went on to say that they were going off the figures that my last provider (last year) had supplied them with.  I moved away from SP two years ago, but then moved back to them last August.  My usage has basically remained the same for years.

How can they be estimating from the previous supplier when I have been with them for twelve months, and if they are estimating from previous supplier, then why was their quote so much lower last year.

Any advice would be appreciated, as I do not feel incline to let this pass at present.   The problem is however, if they are going to supply figures to another supplier, based on what they have told me, then I will be paying a higher price with someone else too.  Please help me understand if you can.  Thank You.

You supply figures  to another provider not SP .
So put these true checkers in a comparison site and see .

It really doesn't matter what they project. As long as you set your direct debit to what you have calculated you will use then it's fine.

If you switch providers then you provide the estimates. In myopinion its always better to slightly underestimate your use rather than overestimate it.

    Good luck.

    Many thanks, I'll try that.
