I knew that windows could have differing levels of obscurity but had no idea that decorative film was similarly graded?

I agree with this.
It will also save you the hassle we had when we did choose to have plain glass in our bathroom window - the window company kept phoning to check that the order was right and were we sure we didn't want frosted glass.

Thanks @Mojisola; that extra hassle of phone calls (although well-meant, perhaps) we can do without....if we do purchase the property we'll have more than enough to think about!  Thanks for your comment.

The stick-on stuff does as I found out the hard way when ordering some for my glass bathroom door (annoying, during lockdown I couldn't get the door with etched glass, so had to add stickers later).  It goes from fully obscure, where (obviously) you can't see anything through the film, to various levels of being able to see through it.
