One of our neighbours acted as certificate provider, his wife acted as one of the witnesses.Exactly this, anyone you have known for a couple of years, I suggest not a relative just to make sure.If you read the to blurb they are basically verifying you are not being coerced & still have your wits about you, that's all

Yes, I did DIY LPAs recently - I would recommend doing the forms online and then printing off the completed forms, that way if you make any error with the signatures at any point, just print off another completed form and start again with the signatures. The most difficult part was ensuring the signatures were done in the correct order but other than that it was very simple. If you are having 2 or more attorneys I would recommend going for jointly and severally as if one of the attorneys loses capacity or dies then your LPA will become void.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

RE; My LPA question.I had completed all the details online. It was just the question of the 'certificate provider' that I had an issue with. Thanks to all for your input.

Have just signed as Certificate provider for a close friend I've known for 30 years. She asked me apparently as she knew I had done a DIY LPA for an elderly relative and all well.Just follow the instructions TO THE LETTER and check and double check before you send the LPA to the Office of the Public Guardian.0

Yes the tricky bit is the date order but there is no problem if all the dates are the same. Of course I get someone who refused to sign because it wasn't the actual day so I had to do it all again.0

Another thing to watch out for if doing both the cash & health LPAs at same time, both forms initially look identical, closer inspection shows the footers are not. They are two separate LPAs and should be treated as suchI had problems getting the nominees to ensure they used two separate forms as supplied and did not just copy one, may make no difference but I'd hate it to all fall apart just when it's about to be usedIbrahim5 said:Yes the tricky bit is the date order but there is no problem if all the dates are the same. I left the dates blank and let those signing fill that in, but I knew the signatures would be on different dates to mine, as long as they are after yours there is not a problemEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Re Browtoa comment above - I cannot see anything at all in guigdance re all signatures on the same date, but can see guidance about the order in which signed0

Has anyone used LPA online process for property and finance LPA, and included preferences and instructions in the document?
Was it helpful - did you amend your original preferences/ instructions?0 -
Parent started to but then she put things in like “you must not put me in a care home” which the OPG would have rejected because in the future, there may not be any other realistic option.
So in the end, she left it pretty much open and we had lots of conversations about what she does want. And I’m also trying to her to make an advanced decision which deals a lot with the medical side of things. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
