Waiting times for pip 2021/Medical evidence

Hi,

I sent my pip application form off the 3rd week of April 2021,and still haven't heard anything not even a message to say it's been received.I just wanted to know if this was to be expected or if I should be worried it's maybe lost? And generally what are the wait times now before you get your assessment?

Also,is medical evidence needed when you send the form off? I have it if extra information is needed or for my assessment but I didn't attach anything with my form.🤦Will this effect my claim?

Thank you in advance.

There's huge backlogs for PIP claims right now because of Covid and although there's no timescales, i believe DWP estimated timescales is about 10 months. If a mobile number was put on the form then they sometimes text to say the form has been received but not always. I returned my review forms about 1 month ago and i haven't yet received any text. You can ring them to ask if it's been received.

Regarding evidence, they very rarely contact anyone for this and it's the claimants responsibility to prove they qualify, not there's but medical evidence is only helpful if it states exactly how your conditions affect you.

As regards evidence, the form and accompanying information includes advice on what evidence to send and what not to send.

Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

I applied in March. I provided medical reports from my consultant and occupational therapist as well as an OH report from work. The assessor had read some but not all of the information I sent and freely admitted this.  I waited 13 weeks for my telephone assessment.

Two weeks later I am chasing a copy of the report as DWP haven’t received it yet but Capita says their system states ‘case closed’. It’s now been referred to one of their managers. Hopefully it’s just a case of being misfiled and it will be found soon…. 🤞

I would ring DWP to check it’s been received as when I did this they not only confirmed that but also told me the date it was referred to Capita. They then gave me 10 days notice by text AND posts of the date of my assessment. Bear in mind timescales vary greatly across the UK. And you can send medical evidence after you send your application too. Good luck.
