I phoned AA on 22/06/2021 to transfer my existing car insurance to the one I to purchase on 24/06/2021 10 a.m.
I gave my new car details and paid £153.00 for transfer (this includes £25.00 as AA administration fees).
I opted for the insurance documents to be posted to my home.
On Saturday it arrived in post. I looked at it on return from work at 5.30pm.
I discovered my car Registration number on insurance certificate was not correct-the last digit was recorded as S whereas it should have been X.(I recall when the AA agent repeated S Sierra I Correcting him X Xylophone)
AA Customer services was not contactable as I tried to contact them after 5 p.m as it was shut for weekend.
I therefore contacted accident reporting line to inform of my situation.(I was very concerned and in panic)
He informed me to contact them on Monday. Naturally I could not use my car over the weekend or Monday (28/06/2021) until this get sorted.
All my conversations were recorded by AA.
The car registration number has now been rectified.(Received an email from AA with corrected insurance document)
However I do not find my car as insured on free internet site one could check: askMID
How many days it would take for this to get updated?

    The AA is your broker.

From memory they have 7 days to update the MID but most insurers (or brokers when they've delegated authority) update within 48 hours. They give an effective date when doing the update so a late notification doesn't stop it being effective at the change over.

Ultimately MID is a convenient tool and not having the vehicle on it can cause inconvenience but its not the definitive record of insurance
