    I think you have to be a bit more realistic. Your employer is not going to come grovelling for your forgiveness and confess their embarrassment that they got something wrong.
    You need to look at the BIG picture. Your manager is no longer with the company. You say they left regarding an unrelated issue but the truth is, it's likely a combination of reasons.
    You should draw a line and move on by either returning to work (Phased return an option?), or begin looking elsewhere.
