DVLA lost my personal documents, my Bulgarian driver's license and my ID card!
DVLA agreed to pay me compensation!  however I don't know how much to ask because I will be 13 months without an ID card!  I submitted my documents in the mail on 31.12.2020.  I have an appointment to submit a new ID card at our embassy on 11.11.2021.  the arrival of my new ID card will take about 2 months ...

    Minimum £20k, Maybe even £30k.

However...you posted this in the wrong sub.  If you do get 20k, come back and post on the winners thread :)

(in all seriousness though, I hope they sort it out for you quicker)

You can claim compensation for the costs you incur in replacing your lost documents, plus a small amount for the trouble it has caused you. I would suggest between £200 and £250 for the inconvenience. I think a low offer like this will allow the DVLA to settle quickly, so that you can bank their cheque and get on with your life.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Assuming you're a UK resident, then appropriate recompense would start at the cost of the replacement card. You don't need it while you're in the UK - your passport would be appropriate ID instead.
