Outrageous Abbey!

On checking my latest statement I found that Abbey had charged me £3 to transfer £17.79 that I was in credit by back to my currentaccount. I've just phoned and was told that this is standard procedure and that the fee is refunded when the customer queries it and not otherwise.

  • Transfer what money from where to where?
(You don't make it easy on your readers, do you?)
  • Can I ask why they transferred £17.79 to your current account? Did you ask them?

Becuase I am going to pay off my balance with them, just worry if I am in credit, the same case might happen on me.
  • Yes, I asked them to transfer the amount - I was in credit as I payed off my full balance on top of my direct debit for the minimum amount (had never used the card for purchases).
