Putting the planet before profit.  You do wonder when investors select ESG investments. How they will still put the maximum return before investing in socially beneficial stocks.

Lewis is if anything too kind. He says rightly that it's a terrible deal for those looking for a competitive return, but also says that it might be of interest for those willing to compromise on interest to support "what they hope will be green causes". Hope is a good word but I would prefer delusion. Government money is Government money. If you loan money to the Government you are funding everything the Government chooses to spend its money on, which includes road building, shale gas projects, nuclear submarines, foreign wars, etc etc. There are plenty of borrowers (including FSCS-protected ones) that don't do any of that if you want to be green.
