Switching with Solar and smart meter not so easy
Despite other posts saying Solar & Supply are independent one of the big six caused a lot of hassle by insisting that after change of Supplier needed to change to FIT account too, something to do with the database of who owned the smart meter( I don't actually care). Finally changed Fit account after nearly 6 months of lack of agreement between the two suppliers only to have the new supplier go bust. Guess who the Control Gurus passed me onto? Yes, the one I had just switched from! Still having discussions about the change back of FIT because there is apparently no automatic process for this and all sorts bits of paper need to be correct. Then someone changed the paperwork rules. It takes at least two weeks for e-mails to be answered, at least they are paying. . I want to change Supplier again but how can I avoid another extended hassle??

The time before last when I changed my electricity supplier I left my FIT behind with my old supplier. They were perfectly happy about this, as it happens they make a big play on being a green supplier. I did not have any hassle, then or since.Reed0

We have had solar panels for 11 years, FIT payment comes from our then supplier: Scottish Power. Since then we have changed supplier at least 6 times. currently with Octopus. FIT payment has never changed and still comes from Scottish Power. We have a smart meter and have never had any delays to any switch.1

@Warmdog are you on metered export by any chance? Like in the other replies I've switched supplier half-a-dozen times but my unmetered FIT has stayed with NPower throughout. (They've just transferred me to E.ON Next but that's another matter entirely.)
