Spark smart prepayment meters switch to british gas

Hi Guys,
I bought a house and am looking to have the prepayment meters removed - they were installed on both gas and electric by Spark energy. I have switched to British gas but am really confused - they have said they will call to arrange for someone to change the meters over to their prepayment as I have to be on those temporarily before they can switch me to a monthly tariff. Although I have been told three different things from different advisors...
In the mean time I have been told the meters are running on credit which will be wiped once the new meters are installed and i will start paying.
Seems a bit suspicious to me - is there anyone in here that knows their process. I just want to make sure I don't get landed with a huge bill for the energy I use in the interim of them switching. I just want to get rid of the bloody things lol

Sounds like smets1 meters that British gas can't use as smart meters so they'll install new ones in payg mode then swap over to credit mode once it's all setup
Model numbers of the meters would help
Are British gas now supplying you? If the meters are SMETS1 they are most likely in credit mode at this point and British gas will swap them over to their own SMETS2 meters so they can use them as smart meters and also remotely change between payg and credit mode
I doubt you'll get a huge bill, just keep records / photos of meter readings, when new meters are installed they'll put a sticker with the old readings on it.
