Internet shopping price reductions

I have bought and paid for 4 items at a reduced price on a website last night. They were being sold at a greatly reduced price - and I thought bargain! Anyway the transaction went through, payment was taken and confirmation email for my purchase received. 
Today I have received at email saying there was a problem with their website and the sale price was incorrect so they have cancelled my order and my payment will be refunded.
my question is can they do his? They accepted my order, took payment and entered into a ‘contract ‘ with me to supply goods. I would appreciate thoughts this. Jackie

Yes, their terms and conditions will allow for it, as does the law.

When do the wesbite term and conditions state a contract is formed? It's usually at dispatch, so that mistakes like this can be picked up.

Even so, if the price really was too good to be true, then even if the contract was formed prior to dispatch, it could be classed as a unilateral mistake - so treated as if no contract has existed.

So what were the items, the price and how many did you order?
