British Airways vouchers and seating

Hi, we accepted vouchers last year when we cancelled our booked BA flight to Phapos. On trying to book new flights this year apparently I can not use the vouchers on seat selection even though £330 of the vouchers total value is from previous seat selection. How can they want additional payment for seat selection when there is credit a plenty on the vouchers. Seems very unfair to me. BA just say "it's policy ". Has anyone else had this problem?

It does state this on their website. If it was you that cancelled the flight rather than the airline it's likely you're going to have to deal with the seating your given and try and use the rest of the voucher on another future flight.1

I haven't experienced this but could it be to do with the fact if you cancel a flight you do not get your seat selection fee refunded.1

Just clarify, we've had everything given back in voucher value, I don't get why we can't use the vouchers to buys extras of any sort along with the flight.
I was interested if anyone else was having this issue or experienced it.
I'm under no illusions that we were the ones to cancel our flight and in fairness the vouchers are the full value of our initial spend. Just can't seem to purchase like for like. 🤔0 -
As others have said... if you cancel then seat reservations arent maintained... if they cancel you get seat reservations.
We had one flight that was moved multiple times by a combination of them and us. The agents we spoke to seem very confused by the whole situation too and ultimately when we used the outbound leg last minute we werent able to use it but when the normal seat selection window open there were a large number of seats available including those we wanted.
Ultimately we ended up with an escalated complaint and they agreed our seat reservation should have been honoured and so refunded the outward leg. The return leg was then moved again by them but we rejected the move and set a different date again and were able to use the seat reservation on the rebooking straight away.0
