Friends got a 10 year old van covering a lot of motorway miles. The !!!!!! doesn't have cruise control and I put it to him. Anyone ever had it retrofitted before, worth it? Looks to be about £500 give or take.

Worth looking on the relevant forums as I'm aware of some VAG models where people have been able to add cruise by adding the relevant control switch and making a minor tweak to the Ecu to recognise that the car supports cruise control.
Unlikely in this case but think the cost of the one I was reading up on was less than 20.00 in the end.0 -
A lot of modern stuff just needs the switch fitting and the ECU telling that cruise is there. Straightforward.0

First thing you need to establish is if any model of that van and that age has ever had cruise control fitted.
If it has, then retrofitting the parts and coding the ECU should be easy enough.
If that type of van has never had cruise fitted in any model of that age, then you're pretty screwed.
Pointless looking at newer models of that van, as the ECU will be different.
You need to specifically look for another 2011 van of that type with cruise.0 -
I fitted it to a 2008 Seat Leon I had about 10 years ago.
On that it involved adding a new control stalk, steering wheel clock spring and steering wheel control module and then a quick bit of coding.
The parts were about £150 second hand and probably 90 minutes work and so a garage would easily do it in an hour.
Some vehicles have the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel so a new wheel may be required.0 -
Usually easily retrofitted. Have you tried any forum groups or ebay for kits? Also try googling it for your make of van.

I fitted it to a Toyota Auris I previously owned, some models of Auris came with cruise control as standard so the relevant wiring was already present in the loom and I just purchased the control arm and fitted. If the same model of van had this as an option you may be able to do the same0

Robbo beat me to it, but I was going to mention some Toyotas already have the relevant wiring and plug already and it's only a matter of fitting the control stalk to the steering column and plugging in. Possible with some Yarisssss too.

I added it to my Zafira B for just over £20 (for the switch) and about 10 mins of my time.
I did already own a gismo to allow me to switch it on in the ECU though (cost me about £20 on eBay).

This van is an NV200 SE model, I think the Acenta option had AC and Cruise control. Does this mean the vehicle will have the base support and they just need to somehow find an adapter and a stalk? Had a quick look on the Bay and saw nothing.
